To God, whose faithfulness and love never ends. Each time I think about His presence in my life, I am awed.

To everyone who thinks he is not good enough to execute what his mind pictures; this indeed is for you.

Every height attained in life was not without the collaborative efforts of lovely people who prove themselves worthy of being associated with.

This work would not have been without the moral and spiritual support of my husband (Ozex Itua), who saw the hidden treasures of writing in me and inspired me into the birth of this book. This is to let you know that your belief in me has made this a legacy. I am most delighted to share your name.

Secondly, my lovely cuties; Godswealth and Godsgift gave me the serenity I needed while putting these thoughts together. I pray they grow up to treasure this.

Thanks to Ola Adene, who helped with the editing and also guided this project with his professional skills despite his busy schedules.

Thanks also to my parents and siblings, whose love and support I can always boast of any day, anytime.

Ideas are building blocks to great dreams and visions. A little idea has in it, the power to transform and is capable of causing tremendous change in situations and circumstances. As minute as a spark of fire is, it has in it the ability of setting ablaze an entire building; so is an idea. The initial idea that led to the origin of the computer was to aid in the calculation of large numbers but today, the rapid growth of technology in our contemporary world is attributed to the efforts of men, who come up continually with ideas on how best to improve on the invention; as such birthing new discoveries and diverse functions of the computer systems.

An idea can give birth to several other ideas through imaginations. Imaginations are logical and creative thoughts that go on within the imaginative faculty of a person which often involves the formation of new ideas about humans, things, places, events etc. They are not usually influenced by the five senses (sight, taste, touch, smell and sound).

When ideas become accessible, they transmute into dreams - a person without a dream is like an aircraft without a pilot. In fact, the poorest of persons are the ones without a dream. This implies

that, we make good use of our imaginative faculty in building up ideas; as often as we do, we tend to improve the quality of things around us and the more our dreams become real and attainable.

This is evident from the very beginning of creation. The world entirely came into being from the supremacy of God’s imaginations – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said…” (Gen 1:1-3). God imagined how great and excellent it would be to overcome the darkness, therefore He thought of the very best way to do it and came up with the idea of speaking light into being by saying; “let there be light” and indeed it was so. The shinning of the light eliminated the darkness and as well gave birth to other things God created. I marvel at such awesome declarations, because I often wonder at it and imagine what and how the world would have been had God not spoken the light.

Leading men in business, finance, education and industries; great writers, poets, musicians, artisans and many more on that endless list, came to limelight because of their ability to develop their ideas and work towards achieving them.

Life is worthless without a purpose and dream. A

dream is a mere wish if there is no desire and passion to achieve it. Keep imagining, create ideas, have a dream; make intentional and calculative efforts to achieve them. It is attainable!

When you start building up something new from within you, there’s a sort of enthusiasm to get it done. That is your desire!

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines desire thus; conscious impulse toward something that promises enjoyment or satisfaction in its attainment.

Hence, your desire is the passionate longing for something your heart craves for which in turn causes an excitement that makes you do everything possible to achieve your goal. The value of an idea lies in the use of it; therefore, in order to attain a height, there must be an equivalent desire to fuel it up. Your desire stirs up courage in you to pursue your dreams; it is the bedrock of every successful idea, as without it there is no willpower. It is more than a wish which could be held lightly.

A burning desire for an idea makes it attainable. Become so excited with the inspirations, motivation and the will power that surrounds your dream. Let it take over you that all you ever do, talk and meditate on is revolved around it.

Over the years, I have discovered that when I desire something in a strong way, it is easier for me to put on great energy into it. I mediate on it every second, talk more about its potency and success even while I am still processing it. I live by it all day long until it is settled. I see it as an adventure worth delving into.

However, no matter the depth of our desire, there must be a degree of determination to back it up. I remember a nursery rhyme taught me by my teacher then, “Determination is our motto”. Then, we always sung it aloud anytime we had a seemingly difficult task to do and surprisingly, we were motivated and we overcame at the end.

Determination enables you face any task, the odds notwithstanding.

Within the context of achieving a dream also, is the need for planning. Without a plan, failure is inevitable in any project.

Planning helps in disintegrating your idea into various segments for the desired results. It enables you take inventory on the idea as well as knowing the things needed and also the various stages

involved. No builder ever dares to build a house without first planning what kind of structure to erect, what pattern it would take, and the things to employ. If otherwise, the building would collapse. Planning is an inevitable key to success.

Commitment is also another prerequisite in the attainment of a dream. You cannot desire to achieve without being committed to your dreams. Commitment here implies giving your time and energy into your dreams. A student who desires to be the best among his classmates must map out strategies of doing so; which would include: burning extra midnight candles, staying off certain pleasures, making researches to gain additional and specialized knowledge etc. He must however remain committed to such strategies and dream; otherwise he cannot achieve it by mere wishing and desiring.

Plans only work out when you are committed to it with so much discipline and sizeable courage. Observe the behavior of ants; they are committed to their task with so much discipline and courage. Even when there is a threat to loss of life on their

way, they are never discouraged; knowing that they have a target for the future, they keep moving to accomplish their aim.

Some people have failed at different times in reaching their goals, because they never understood exactly what was involved in accomplishing their goals. They paid little or no attention to all that their goal encompasses. In Luke 14:28-29, Jesus lets us know the importance of knowing the raw materials required for a task before moving to accomplish it. A goal must involve an adequate role, which means you have to know your role before you get started and ensure running to a finish.

As you develop and master your goal, it is very vital you visualize it. Visualizing it will incorporate writing it down. Habakkuk 2:2 –

“…write the vision and make it plain upon tables…”

A vision that must be achieved must be a written one because by so doing, it becomes a part of you. You think it. You talk it. You act it!

Our challenges become lighter when we develop a courageous and overcoming attitude towards them. Persistence is the boldness to continue to try on achieving success even in the face of difficulty and obstacles. You determine to keep moving without being discouraged.

Thomas Edison, the inventor of the electric bulb had that passion burning in him. He kept trying, even when he failed over a thousand times, he continued in his pursuit until he finally succeeded.

Many great men would not have been in the annals of history, if they gave up along the line. The truth remains that the more a plan fails to work out, the more you realize a better way to try again and the closer you get to your desired result. Also, understand that failure of a plan does not imply you

have failed; rather, it means there is another and better way to get it done which can also be judged as a part of success.

How sorry it is that we easily give up. We want it the easy way and as soon as it does not work out that way, we think it is not going to work another way, or it is not meant for us.

The woman with the issue of blood in the bible persisted on her touching the hem of Jesus’ garment in order to get her healing. Despite the disappointments she had faced from people and things around her, she pushed on and refused to give up. This led to her total cleansing and restoration.

The beauty of it is this, “nothing good and great comes easy or happens by chance”. Success is not something one stumbles into; rather, it comes through channeled and well defined principles and efforts. When you know exactly what you want out of an idea and evaluate the value, then it takes our persistent effort to hold on tenaciously to it. This is why it is very necessary you examine an idea, its values and impact before putting energy into it. Some ideas are achieved on a short run while some others take long to be actualized. This implies that, as long as you keep your dreams to achieve alive, there is a need to keep trying different measures and approaches.

One of the greatest ways of pursuing your dreams is by refusing to be discouraged. Certainly, discouragements will come especially from family, colleagues and most trusted friends, or even when some of the most trusted strategies are failing. Nevertheless, you must learn to shun it and walk heads up. Remain focused, determined and courageous. Become immune to the failure of a strategy, after all it is just a strategy, of which another procedure could yield a better result. Also, avoid the ‘I will do it tomorrow’ attitude – Procrastination. Definitely, you know that tomorrow is a day that will always follow today (it never comes). Procrastination leads nowhere. Nobody ever moves forward with such an attitude. In fact, one of the easiest ways to kill a dream is to procrastinate. It keeps you stagnant and kills your dream. The moment you evaluate an idea and see the possibility, get into the process and refuse to give up until the crown is won.

Persistence requires a lot of patience embedded with hope. Therefore, never quit! Keep going.

The “I Can” factor is very paramount in our daily lives. ‘I Can” is a character of the focused and an uncompromising person. It is the power behind the achievements of the positive thinker. Our success to a very large extent depends on our attitude. Attitude is simply the way we view, evaluate – think and handle things mentally. More often than not, we feel we don’t have what it takes to meet our goals, but the truth is that we don’t lack the ability. On the upside, what we need to change is the way we view things. Become positive. Think win-win always and on a long run, things will begin to fall in place; then, productivity is increased and success is guaranteed.

Generally speaking, if you have the right attitude about what you desire, you will definitely produce good results. As a matter of fact, it is not about getting more education, making more money et al.

that make certain things fall in place; afterall, some rich men still act foolishly. Instead the ultimate factor is having the right attitude.

Your attitude (way of thinking) controls the results and fruits of your labour. That is why the bible teaches in Romans 12:2 to renew the mind.

A goal not geared towards producing a clear desired result is futile. It is our attitude that makes all the difference. We have to be able to put on an uncompromising attitude irrespective of the pressure. A tree is known by its fruits (Matthew 12:33). The fruits (results) we get depend on what goes on in our minds, because our actions are functions of what we think.

The difference between the rich and the poor; the strong and the weak; the successful and the unsuccessful; is their attitude. The armies of Israel were terrified by the threat of Goliath of Gath (1 Samuel 17:6-24). But David had another approach to the threat as a result of his mind-set (attitude). His positive-thinking attitude made him bold and courageous that he spoke out –

“And David said to Saul, let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

Amazing! David had no education, he was never in the army nor had he any weapon of war. He was

only a shepherd boy. All he had was the right and winning attitude which propelled him to defeat the great Goliath with just ‘a sling and a stone’ in the name of the Lord of hosts.

Develop yourself with the right attitude. Pressures will come, all hope may seem dashed, there may arise a state of financial breakdown and all roads may seem blocked. However, with the “I Can” attitude, you can boldly declare, “though the going gets tough, yet I get going” because only then will you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
