About The Author

The Medlevian Protocol, a novel I wrote with JT Lewis, talks about a secret brotherhood: the Medlevians. Their primary focus was to spread a little-known but beneficial secret to the world, one that had been passed down through the centuries.

They called their quest the Prime Directive…to spread this knowledge throughout the known world. It seems a worthy cause, and one I hope to emulate with this book.

I mention this because many of you may be now reading these words because of that novel. However you ventured to get to this page, however, I thank you for landing here. I hope that you will discover and embrace what is within these pages, and use it to better your own lives, as well as the lives of others.

I wish I could claim to be an expert on what I call the Protocols for Life, but I too am just an apprentice in the process of discovery. Even though I am at an age that, when I was younger would have never conceived of reaching, I was able to easily grasp the concepts. But that too tells us something…that we are never too old (or too young) to get our life in order.

Don’t let not-knowing-how dissuade you!

Years ago, my goals were completely different when I first started doing research for these two books: The Medlevian Protocol and The Biggest Thing.

You see, I was indeed on a quest to find a secret. This secret, however, would be a business principle that could be easily learned, would take little to no upfront capital or employees, and would guarantee huge success.

What I found instead was a secret life principle, or protocol, that would deliver on all of the above-mentioned goals…and so much more!

While researching my original goal, I happened across an old book from the turn of the 20th century, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles. In it, he revealed what he called a ‘Practical manual for those who want results using the laws of the universe, and can take those results on faith’ (paraphrased).

Essentially, he would explain how the laws of the universe worked, but maybe not why they worked.

This too, will be the scope of The Biggest Thing, an introduction to an amazing phenomenon that has been hidden in time from many of us.

Mr. Wattles went on to say:

The plan of action laid down herein was deduced from the conclusions of philosophy; it has been thoroughly tested, and bears the supreme test of practical experiment; it works. …If you wish to reap the fruits of these philosophies in actual practice, read this book and do exactly what it tells you to do.

I later found out that my finding this book was not an uncommon occurrence, as many that practice and teach these laws of life found and absorbed The Science of Getting Rich early in their studies.

Mr. Wattles’ book was the turning point in my own quest, and the springboard to further studies of the phenomenon. It was also the starting point of my own personal rebirth in faith…a faith in myself, as well as a faith in a higher power.

Some would say that this discovery was merely an accident, but I am convinced that I was led to this by the higher power of the universe…by God.

And while the singular solution to my original ambition may still be out there (I still believe it is), what I found instead is a much greater and all encompassing solution to living a life full of love, success, and happiness.

It is the biggest thing!

What are the Protocols for Life?

They have had many names throughout time:

The Power of Intention

Self Visualization

Positive Realization

Right Thinking

Mental Law

Universal Law

Mind Power

Mental Healing

Source Energy

The Certain Way of Thinking

One is All, All is One (Hindu philosophy)

New Thought Philosophy

The Power of Positive Thinking

The Law of Attraction

To me, they are the Protocols for Life, a set of rules governing the exchange or transmission of energies between entities.

I know, I know…it’s a mouthful!

But what do all of these differing names or titles have in common?

Essentially, it is the belief that we are responsible for our own lives! In other words, we can control what we make of ourselves in this life, we must simply ask for it.

Yes, it does sound rather simplistic, doesn’t it? And in fact, it is a tad more complicated than that…but not much.

We will touch more on this later on.

What amazes me about this long-buried secret, however, is that these protocols have been around forever! Let’s start with the Bible, a book that we know to be approximately two-thousand years old, containing stories sometimes thousands of years older than that.

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him

that knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:8

As a man thinks, so is he.

Proverbs 23:7

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

You have not, because you ask not

James 4:2 (b)

Another old transcript I found…Laws of Universe, states that these laws are age-old, universal truths, the secret wisdom of the ancient Hindus, Tibetans, and Egyptians, as well as the experience of every successful personality in the field of human endeavor since time immortal.

It continues by pointing out that:

As far back in the remote past as 3800 BC, Sargon the Agade used these laws in the preparation of his great campaigns. Ctesias, the well-known court advisor to kind Xerxes of Egypt depended heavily on them as early as 1300 BC. Similarly, 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ bequeathed these laws to his disciples and taught them how to work miracles through the wonderful power of these laws.

In fact, as I studied through the history of this secret, I found that the secret it is no secret at all!

As Percy Fitzroy stated in The Medlevian Protocol:

The principles governing (this) knowledge are ancient and universal truths, but we hold no copyright on that wisdom. It can be obtained from many other sources…you need but to look…

So why doesn’t everyone already know about these truths? Why is it that the whole of the population doesn’t learn this from birth, and apply it to their lives from the start?

That, of course, is a very good question. I can only speculate that, as a rule, humans’ are a very busy species. For the most part, from birth we are taught certain behavior based on our parents’ or caregivers’ own experiences. In today’s world, many of us are taught that, to succeed, we must do well in school, go to college, and to push ourselves to be the best that we can be. Add to that all of the other norms of the world around us, and we are on our way to being a normal human.

Nothing wrong with that of course…or is there?

The world as we know it is a fast-paced environment, leaving little time to think about the deeper things around us. For example, when was the last time any of us spent even a moment sniffing the beautiful scent of a flower? Or glanced at the sky, or enjoyed the fragrance of early morning?

Our lives seem to turn into a series of obligations…to ourselves, as well as to others.

I have literally spent years at a time ignoring the beauty and wisdom around me as I strived to fulfill the obligations ingrained in me by my upbringing and environment:

  • I needed to be more successful

  • I needed a bigger house

  • I needed a better car

  • I needed the latest iPhone (tablet, laptop, etc.)

  • I needed to work longer hours and focus more to achieve these goals

  • I needed to ignore anything that interfered with these goals, sometimes including my family and friends

Society tells us we must fight for what we want…

Not only that:

  • The banks were always willing to lend me the money needed to accomplish all of these perceived obligations

And, of course, the only way for me to achieve these obligations was to do it with a determined single-mindedness that left no time to do anything else, at least not successfully.

By the time that most of us are thirty-five, we have already started spiraling down a vortex of debt and overwork. We batter our bodies and ingest so much fast food that they no longer work correctly, leading us to suffer the ‘modern’ illnesses that plague our society. And of course, this inevitably leads to visits to medical professionals…and ultimately to pharmaceuticals.

Another step down into the vortex…

In the end, most of us fail to achieve at least some of our goals, which can also lead to mental anguish over our failures.

And when was the last time that any of us had a good thought about someone else? When was the last time that any of us had a good thought even about ourselves?

And we think that this is normal! It’s the way everyone does it…isn’t it?

Looking back on my own life from the vantage point of my present self, I now realize that I would have done many things differently.

But wouldn’t anybody, you might ask?

Indeed they would, for we could find few in the universe without regrets…to be truthful, probably no one at all.

But even with the regrets, we keep plowing forward with our lives the only way we know how.

And that’s why this knowledge is still secret to most people…we don’t have the time to seek it out…and most of us don’t even realize it’s there for the taking!

Most of us, if we could stop our busy lives for just a single second, would admit that there must be a better way.

Thought as a Force of Change

Man is made or unmade by himself…

James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

Our minds are a terrible thing to waste. Our thoughts can make us the man or woman we need and want to be, but we must be able to overcome the cultural norms that we have lived with up to now.

Everything that we experience in our lives right now is

there because we believe that it is true

Man’s greatest resource is the mind. It sets us apart from every other living entity on Earth.

The only thing about a man that is a man is his mind.

Everything else you can find in a pig, or a horse.

Archibald MacLeish

The first thing any of us can do to remedy our present state is to accept that we are who we are because of the judgments we have accepted into our life and mind; to accept that all of our current conditions are a creation of our past thinking and beliefs.

Then and only then can we become the master of ourselves; and only then can we learn that we are in control of the circumstances of our life. When we can shed the heavy cloak that our heredity and environment have covered us with, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

And the true blessing that our life can be!

We have to train our mind to ignore a multitude of the habits that it has always seen as normal. Our subconscious mind acts on our routine behavior without thought.

We are taught the limiting beliefs that control the outcome of our present life.

Our current thoughts are creating our future. What we think about most

will appear in our life.

Rhonda Byrne

Napoleon Hill says it best when he states:

Every man is what he is because of the dominating

thoughts which he permits to occupy his mind

Without reprogramming our minds, sudden new ideas that are strange to the subconscious mind are rejected, or even ignored.

The idea is not in harmony with our mind’s model of what is expected of it!

So we must constantly work to change that model. We must convince our mind that we need to change the way we look at things. It must be able to accept the new ideals we are seeking, and not reject them out of hand…

We must develop faith!

As thy faith is, so be it unto thee

Matthew 9:29

When we seek a new abundance in our lives, we need to have the complete and total expectation that it will come to pass. Without that anticipation, without truly believing that it is possible to achieve, our mind will revert back to its previous programming.

This is faith…and it is a beautiful thing!

Faith is: The complete trust or confidence in someone or something, oftentimes without concrete proof.

Complete trust, and complete confidence in ourselves, and also a complete trust that there is something better for us. And finally, we must maintain a complete trust and confidence that there is a universe waiting to fulfill our needs…a higher power.

How Does It Work?

Ask and you shall receive…if you truly believe

When we put an idea within the mind, it vibrates at a specific frequency relative to that want. The universe around us is full of frequencies, and has the ability to supply us with everything we need. When the universe picks up a specific vibration from our mind, it starts sending like vibrations back, harmonious vibrations, with the power to attract our needs and wants.

Everything sent out returns to the source…you!

Like attracts like…if you think a thought, you are attracting it.

It is the Law of Attraction.

The universe is really only a tool created by the higher power. It does not have a conscious, nor does it have the capacity to say no. It will get us whatever we ask for, good or bad (Thus the need to be thoughtful about how you phrase your request).

I like to compare the universe to the voice-controlled smart speakers that several companies have out. (Can you say Alexa?) They are voice-controlled, intelligent personal assistants. In other words, they give you what you ask for, as long as what you ask is within their parameters to fulfill. They don’t know what you want ahead of time…they simply fulfill your wants.

They are simply a tool…

The universe, unlike the smart speaker, is not limited in what it can give you. But like the smart speaker, it is also just a tool…a very generous tool, but not really very intelligent on its own.

It doesn’t know what you want until you ask for it!

I know all of this may sound farfetched and like something out of a science fiction novel, but as Wallace Wattles stated before… “It works.” This is where our faith comes in; we must be able to believe in a power higher than our own.

That higher power can have many names: The Universe, Nature, Energy, Supreme Being…but to me it is God.

I will get back to this later in the book, but I thought it pertinent to introduce the concept here before continuing on. For now, however, let’s start by making a wish!

For example, let’s start with something simple…say our first goal is to lose weight, but we would rather not try to stick to a diet. Start by saying it out loud:

I want to be the perfect weight, no matter what I eat.” Or even better, “I am the perfect weight, no matter what I eat.”

(How you phrase your request is very important, by the way. Always form your wants and goals as a positive and forward-thinking phrase. Never, for example, phrase your request as such: I don’t want to be fat. The brain hears fat and resonates on that frequency, sending it out to the universe and gathering all like energy for the fat the brain thinks you asked for.)

In all things, you must remain positive…especially when it concerns your wants and needs! It is not always easy to get past the negatives engrained into us by our environment.

Being positive does not mean ignoring the negative. Being positive means overcoming the negative.

Ralph S. Marston, Jr.

Ok, so we now have our first goal…and we’ve put it into words, at least in our minds: I am the perfect weight, no matter what I eat.

But is that enough?

If we speak our goal aloud only once offhandedly to ourselves, there is no commitment there and it will assuredly not work. If we say it at least once a day, there is a better chance that it will work, but we are still missing something.

Remember, we also need to convince our mind that this is a real thing…something that we desire with all of our heart. We need to work to change our subconscious mind’s preconceived notions of reality, notions based upon our upbringing and environment.

The mind will want to reject this request to lose weight no matter what is consumed. It makes no sense because if you eat regular food regularly, you tend to get fat.

We need to infuse the mind with the faith of our beliefs, and we need to do it with the expectation that this will happen! Once we can convince our mind that we are serious, it will start vibrating and bringing energy into itself.

One way to do this is with the power of affirmations. An affirmation is the action or process of affirming something…it is a method of garnering emotional support and encouragement. Words have the power to shape our mind, and by repeating what we want several times a day, it is a powerful tool for success. It will actually create in our subconscious a firm belief in the abundance that we seek.

Using our earlier example about losing weight, an affirmation might go something like this:

I am happy and grateful that I am at my perfect weight!

But we must believe in what we are asking for, and we must approach our task with the expectation that we will succeed!

And since we expect it to happen, we also prepare for it to happen.

Preparation is another one of the keys to making these protocols work for us. In other words, act like it has already happened! This can take many forms, starting with the request itself.

‘I am the perfect weight’, instead of ‘I want to be the perfect weight’ is a great first choice to achieving our goal. Where I want to be is positive and forward thinking, I am is even more so.

We are acting like it has already happened! Not only acting…believing!

Anything else we can do to prepare just adds energy to our quest. Although it is not required, starting some sort of exercise can only increase our vibration, especially if we do it with the conscious thought of preparation. Additionally, eating better is also an excellent preparation for reaching our goal.

I can hear it now, scores of you are already complaining!

“If I ate better and exercised, I wouldn’t have a weight problem in the first place!

“I don’t have time to exercise!”

“I don’t have time to eat right!”

All of these are valid points, but my suggestion was just that, a suggestion.

Walking once around the block is not a huge accomplishment for most of us, but it would be enough to start our preparation. Additionally, eating a few vegetables once in awhile wouldn’t be a strain on our budget, or a huge commitment of our time.

Another option would be to buy an article of clothing that is a size too small…a physical item that adds to our goal.

What I am suggesting is just this…prepare for the results before they happen, however that makes sense to you. We must visualize ourselves at our perfect weight, visualize fitting into that piece of clothing that is now ‘too small’. Do it with the faith of our mind, and the belief that we are already there.

Ask and you shall receive…if you truly believe, and if you prepare for it to happen.

Additionally, by adding emotion to our expectations, we also magnify the effect. In fact, it is less about the thoughts we have than it is the emotions we attach to the thoughts!

Feelings and emotions are what really move the protocols into high gear!

Dr. Masaru Emoto has done numerous fascinating experiments on how the human output of certain emotional energies and vibrations could change the crystalline structure of water. When the water was frozen after being exposed to positive speech and thoughts, the resultant ice crystals were visually pleasing. Conversely, the same water exposed to negative thoughts would yield ugly crystals.

Dr. Emoto’s work provides us with a glimpse at how emotions can change the world around us.

And if we can change the actions of a simple ice crystal, just think about how much could be changed in our own lives, or the lives of others!

Whatever you visibly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and

enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.

Paul J Meyer

Adding positive emotions to our thought will compound the energy of the thought, thereby increasing the power of the vibrations sent to the universe…and increasing our return!

In our above affirmation, we stated: I am happy and grateful that I am at my perfect weight!

The word happy in the above statement is one emotion of the expectation, and a truly powerful one at that, as long as we believe what we are saying.

And then it mentions another word…gratitude.

Gratitude is one of the most powerful energies you can ever experience. Feel gratefulness for anything and you will shift the way that you feel. You can create miracles!

Neville Goddard

Gratitude allows new energy to come into us, and gratitude is a huge key to a successful life. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, we should be grateful for what we already have and our abundance will be magnified.

Remember to be grateful for what you ask for, even if it hasn’t happened yet!

Ask and you shall receive…if you truly believe, if you prepare for it to happen…and if you are grateful!

Gratitude opens the door to the power, the wisdom, (and) the creativity of the universe. You open the door through gratitude. Deepak Chopra

Finding the power of gratefulness has elicited a powerful change in my own life. I am now so grateful for the many blessings of my life, something that I didn’t pay that much attention to in the past. It has made me more joyful, more understanding of others, and…happy!

It’s not happiness that brings us gratitude. It’s gratitude that brings us happiness. Anonymous

We have all heard the old adage, patience is a virtue.

When we immerse ourselves in these protocols or laws governing how the universe works, we must realize that every goal has its own incubation period. We must have patience as we wait for the fulfillment of our dreams to manifest.

Some things might take awhile, while others may show up almost immediately. Impatience or being unsure will create a negative energy, dragging us away from our goals and giving us that like energy. Conversely, patience ramps up our vibration and fills us with anticipation and positive energies.

When I myself asked to be the perfect weight, I felt the difference start to manifest within a week or so, although it took a little over a year to get to my goal. It was a slow and steady transformation, but luckily, not exceedingly so.

I would notice my pants getting a little looser every week until I would eventually have to obtain a smaller size.

It felt amazing!

Had I let my commitment waiver, however, I surely would have lowered my energy and stopped the manifestation in its tracks.

Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled

Neville Goddard

Some of the other needs and wants I have asked for have come much quicker, while others have yet to manifest. I am not going to lie to you and tell you that it should always be easy to maintain our faith when we are not seeing the results that we seek.

We are human, after all, and far from infallible. And we have our history poking its head back into our thoughts periodically, trying to convince us that everything will be ok if we just go back to the way we were before. But with the faith of our beliefs, in ourselves and in a higher power, as well having the expectation that This Will Happen, we can eventually overcome any obstacle.

Nothing is too good to be true, nothing is too wonderful, and nothing is too good to last.

Florence Scovill Shinn

Giving Back

Our reward in life will always be in exact proportion

to our contributions, our service.

Earl Nightingale

Giving is a big step to receiving.

In fact, everything we have discussed up to this point is about attracting something good into our lives. But when it comes to working with these protocols or laws, attracting is only half of the equation. We must also be willing to give something back.

Many books discussing these laws or protocols leave this principle out. Through much study, I am convinced that learning to give and to receive is probably the biggest part of the protocol of seeking abundance in our lives. Without this natural exchange of energies, it just won’t work as well…or at all.

Attempting to get without giving goes against the natural law…you are trying to reap the harvest without sowing the seeds.

Giving combined with receiving is what makes the universe really work for us, increasing our abundance. Giving of our knowledge, our money, or our time are all excellent ways to power up our vibrations in the universe.

And it’s not just what we give; it’s how we give it.

Grudgingly helping someone because we feel obligated or forced to do so will only leave a sour taste in our mouth, and put out sour energy as well. Similar to our previous discussions about affirmations, attaching positive energy and emotions to our giving only heightens our own energy.

From what we get in life, we make a living. From what we give, we make a life!

Arthur Ashe

Our greatest success will come when we permit ourselves to help others. Selfish desires only hurt us, while being a benefit to mankind comes from the heart, a true emotional investment of ourselves.

We get what we give in terms of our feelings, thoughts, and vibrations.

The miracle is this—the more we share, the more we have

Leonard Nimoy

Giving is the first step in receiving. But who do we give to?

There are basically three kinds of giving to consider, and all are equally important to our growth, as well as to our receiving the abundance we desire.

Give first to something or someone of a higher purpose…such as your church, or a charity that you like. Many religions call this tithing, and freely given is a powerful force for our own abundance. In Malachi, the Bible states:

Test me in this (tithing),” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:10

Secondly, give to yourself! Believe it or not, giving to ourselves is a matter of survival. We can not improve ourselves if there is nothing left to give. We need to take care of ourselves so that we have the wherewithal to continue forward.

Make yourself a priority once in awhile. It’s not selfish, it’s necessary.

Karen A. Baquiran

How can we be forward thinking and positive in attitude if we are constantly depleted? Our own strength, wisdom, and substance are needed in us before we can help others. After we are on solid footing, we can then move on to the third type of giving.

Give something to someone else. When we are on sounder financial, emotional and spiritual footing, giving to others is, indeed, a blessing. If we give with our heart, we experience the joy that comes from helping someone in need.

Giving is a universal opportunity. Regardless of your age, profession, religion, income bracket, and background, you have the capacity to create change.

Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen

Now that we have covered three ways to give, I feel that there are a few things we must understand about how we give. If we can keep these in mind, our giving will be that much more of a blessing:

  • Never expect a return! Once we have decided to give, we need to release the gift from our mind. Bless the gift and the recipient, and then forget about it.

  • Never give with accolades in mind. We can’t give with the thought of furthering our reputation. If we approach the giving as a secret gift, we live within the parameters of the law and increase our vibration in the universe. If we seek attention, we are only gathering negative energy.

  • Never ‘over give’. When we give too much to others, we are sacrificing our own situation. Over giving will often result in others depending on us, or more to the point, depending on what we can give them. We receive no blessings from depleting and becoming disillusioned with ourselves and the law. Our vibration drops and the universe again gives us more of what we think about. When we continue to give without receiving good feelings and emotions, when we dread the continuation, we get even more dread and bad feelings.

The law of sowing and reaping also includes learning to receive. We can not simply give without any expectation of receiving.

What I am talking about here is not about what I mentioned before, expecting a gift back from those who we have helped. What I am referring to here is the manifestations of the universe. We must learn to accept gifts in all forms, even something as insignificant as a penny lying in the street. We should look on it as a sign…a sign of more abundance coming our way!

If someone freely offers us something, even if we don’t actually need it or want it, we should accept it gracefully.

If we return what someone offers us, we are denying the flow of abundance in our lives…and theirs.

By accepting what is offered, we are helping others achieve their own positive vibration. And if that item should be all they have to offer, denying their gift might also deny them the opportunity of feeling good about themselves in some small way…denying them the opportunity of increasing their own abundance.

Learning to receive also brings forth its own blessing to us.

We can always give the item to someone else if we don’t want or need it, or give it to a charity. In this way you are forwarding the positive energy to someone else. The point is we must also learn to receive gracefully to fully take advantage of our giving.

Learn to accept gifts if we want the law to respond to our own abundance…

What’s God Got To Do With It?

Does one need to believe in God for this to work?

It was mentioned early on that we must believe in a higher power than our own to succeed in these Protocols for Life. And I have mentioned numerous times that I personally believe that this higher power is God.

But will these protocols work without a belief in God?

I believe so; if, in fact, you do believe that there is a higher power at work that makes all of this possible.

If you have that faith…

But I also feel that if we continue to seek the truth, eventually we will have no choice other than to stumble across God. With God in our corner, we will also experience abundant fulfillment, peace and joy.

Some would also say that learning to use these laws without God in our life leaves us merely tapping into God’s principles, without the benefit of His love and power.

The two most important days of your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why. Mark Twain

We are all on a quest to better our lives…to find out why we are here. And our beliefs, the notions we hold in our mind, can limit us from achieving our greater good.

Whether we believe in God or not, these beliefs are shaping what we now are. And if we want to better ourselves, it’s only logical that we should examine these beliefs.

My belief is that God did, indeed, create the universe as a tool to serve us. And the Universe is a tool…one that anyone can use.

I once proffered the following statement to my children:

If you borrowed a plumber’s screwdriver to take out a screw, I wouldn’t expect that you would suddenly become a plumber, nor would I expect that you would suddenly develop a ‘plumber’s crack’.

But maybe you would ultimately develop a relationship with the man, or at least learn to appreciate his skills…

Although I phrased it with a silliness that I had hoped would grab their attention, I believe the statement is relevant to this discussion.

Indeed, I believe it is the whole point of the discussion!

For I believe that if we use these protocols as a tool to improve and expand our life, our faith in a higher power cannot fail to increase. And as we continue to ‘borrow’ this tool, we will unavoidably develop a relationship with the aforementioned higher power.

It is, in fact, my contention that learning and using these protocols will bring us closer to God…whether we seek it or not.

And that, my friends, is The Biggest Thing!
