“And He said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels. But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9:23-27

I would like to thank those who have walked with me for many years, and have watched me mature from a babe in Christ to a woman of God. To Kurmmell and Kimberly Knox, a truly blessed man and woman of God, thank you for being my mentors and for being my brother and sister in Christ. To Dr. De’Andrea Matthews, another dear woman of God and mentor, you have been a tremendous blessing to me. These three have put up with all my calls, tears, and frequent text messages for years and years. Not once did you give me less than your best to produce the best in me. May the Lord abundantly bless each of you and your families.

To my father, who went to be with the Lord many years ago, but always told me “Anita, you MUST believe in God!” I wish you could see my life now and what I have become. To my mother, who has supported me through many trials and encouraged me as only a mother could - may the Lord protect you and give you peace and joy. To my grandparents, and to Uncle Joe and Aunt Sandra, you are precious to me. I am grateful for your wisdom, unconditional love, and encouragement. Thank you for believing in the Lord to change me. To all of my beloved family, I love you dearly.

Finally, but certainly not least, to the only One who could save me from myself and deliver me from the hand of my enemy, the One who healed my body and loved me when I did not love myself – my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I would have to write another book just to tell how much I love the Lord. It is because of the Lord God that I was even able to finish this work and have progressed to this level of maturity to write on the subject of spiritual warfare.

This work has been a labor of love. What you will find on the pages that follow is the heartfelt revelation that Elder Anita Morgan laid before the Lord to receive. As you read this work, I pray that the Holy Spirit moves upon your soul for a direct impartation of what is possible when you believe.

Elder Morgan has a prophetic and intercessory gift which flows across the pages to bring revelation to its readers. Allow the Lord to refocus your heart so that you can do great and mighty works for His glory.

Introduction: A New Perspective

Our present church culture is a culture which is laced with prosperity, legalism, and centered around personalities with conformation and compromise to the ideals of the age of the world in which we live. This present church culture has steered away from the truth of the Word of God, to messages of hyper grace and New Age beliefs. It has become a culture where the Christians “name it and claim it”, and seek the god of self while using their own will instead of the will and authority of Christ. In the midst of all this, we have many spiritual warfare ministries keen on defeating the enemy, Satan. These ministries, some which are truly advancing the Kingdom of Christ, are actually taking authority in God’s name and are seeing the fruit of many souls being delivered from demonic spirits. Those bondages have prevented them from having a close and personal relationship with Christ, where they can walk in victory; however, too many have missed the mark and have mishandled the name of Christ and subjected the unsuspecting believer into further bondage. They have not truly understood that spiritual warfare begins at the cross and in the heart of the person who is in need of deliverance, or in the people who are praying over cities, states, governments, kingdoms, etc.

There are numerous how to books which deal with the subject of casting out demons, taking authority, and going to war against Satan and his unholy horde. These books have been a blessing to me in that they taught principles that I am able to use. Those principles have been used personally and within the Body of Christ to seek and take hold of the freedom available to us in God. People decree and declare the word, command the Lord to do what they feel and think should be done, when in actuality the Body of Jesus Christ, the Church, and the servants of the Lord should take a different approach. By the power of the Holy Ghost, the Body of Christ should ask the Living God, "what do you need me to do and how do I do it"? Many preach about the Body having this power, yet very rarely has there been any demonstration of this holy power. When I sought out the power of the Holy Spirit for my own deliverance, I had to search. By power, I mean active, dunamis power of the Holy Spirit. This is the power to heal, to cast out demons, to rebuke, and to win souls of the lost people in this world, by preaching the Gospel as Christ gave to us.

Praying for demoniacs and witnessing the power of the Holy Spirit by using the blood of Jesus Christ defeats the kingdom of darkness and sends those demons running! The broken hearted can be healed and made whole again. The drug addicted, the fornicator, and the suicidal can all receive joy by the power of the Lord. Jesus stated in the book of Luke 4:17-19, when reading from the scriptures in the synagogue:

"And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

This scripture summarizes the power, anointing and mission of the Son of God, to people who needed to be rescued from the power of sin and from the Devil. Jesus rose from the grave, but before He ascended back to The Father in Heaven, gave his disciples this mission found in Mark 16:14-20:

"Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen."

The power that the Church had been missing en masse for centuries was hidden in their belief in the power of God. There have been great revivals and the reactivation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit with demonstrations of the power of God. After these great revivals, only a few churches held on to the knowledge and passed it along to others. Those days became a memory and a longing for those who could remember them. My observation is that those who profess to be anointed today have quailed at the thought of confrontation of demons, yet preach about "stomping the devils head". They avoid the poor, the prostitutes, the local drug dealers, gangs, and addicts, but will pass out water bottles with scriptures on them and call it evangelism for advancing the kingdom. How could that be? There is a big giant hole in that message. It did not connect with the truth.

Through much sorrow, pain, and confusion God has taught me the nature of spiritual warfare. In walking with Him, I have learned to build upon the truth in His Word and He has shown the power of His might in my life personally. Most often, spiritual warfare focuses on the attack of Satan against the local church in various forms, such as finances, health, family issues. While that is not bad, the Holy Spirit revealed to me a new perspective on that traditional view of spiritual warfare. This revelation from the Lord did not focus on the enemy Satan as the main adversary but on the individual and his or her walk with the Lord.

Warfare has always been outwardly focused, but the Lord has revealed that warfare begins within. While engaging in spiritual warfare for years, I must confess, I was not making much headway. After being confronted by stronger demonic spirits and mocking spirits, I knew through discernment that alone, I could do nothing. That tore me to pieces. I wanted to scream right there because I knew I was being baited! I could not engage in battle with this entity. I lacked the power I needed because of the condemnation and shame from the sin which held me in bondage. There was a time when I was engaged with some demons and they fled. During this time, I was actually doing what was right before God; however, when you are in sin, there is no way. I knew this for a fact so I was angry with myself, demoralized and shamed. The Lord is mighty and strong in that He uses His people to perform His will in the earth realm. I had failed to give glory to God because in error, I felt that evil entities are supposed to tremble and flee from me since I have the Holy Spirit of God and walk in His anointing. Thankfully in his infinite wisdom, God knew I was not ready or able to engage in such conflagration on a massive scale. I was afraid. I did not want to be like the seven sons of Sceva recorded in the book of Acts 19:11-20:

"And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, we adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."

These seven brothers, sons of a Jewish priest, were turned on their heads and literally left running naked from the enemy. Paul was being lead and empowered by the Holy Spirit while these men were Jewish exorcists who did not know Christ, but was using His name. Just like these Jewish exorcists, many Christians are using the name of Jesus, without truly knowing Jesus. They operate outside of His will. When you get to that point, the enemy either says "I know you, you are a servant" and then taunt you with your sins, or the demons will say "Jesus, I know, Paul I know, but who are you?"

I knew engaging in warfare against the enemy required a certain type of relationship with God. It must be a relationship, where you trust God and have complete faith, a relationship of repentance, a relationship of dependence on Jesus Christ alone. This relationship, where fear and doubt cannot reside, is a place of intimacy, knowledge of the Lord, and an understanding that you are now in Christ. The institution that we falsely call the church is only a local congregation, when we are the temple of the Holy Spirit of God, the true Church. The Lord doesn’t reside in buildings no matter how grand. He resides in hearts made of flesh and blood. When Jesus comes for His Church, you are not going to see him changing buildings from corruption to incorruption but men, women and children. This is the Church! I have been told it is the anointing that does the work. I knew the Lord had anointed me for his work and, yet I was not seeing the anointing work when I "wielded" it. There was a truth that I was avoiding although I knew it all too well. I had not come to peace with it, until now. Neither you nor I can engage in warfare on a spiritual level, without knowing the Word of God intimately. You cannot engage the kingdom of darkness without first enlisting and staying in the kingdom of Christ.

There is warfare that is offensive and warfare that is defensive. Offensive warfare is an army that is equipped and advancing forward taking ground, removing the present occupants and setting up your new boundaries. Defensive warfare is when an army is simply holding their ground and repelling the attacks of the invading force. To conquer your enemy, you must first condition yourselves, becoming offensive, taking back ground that has been formally conquered, and becoming aware and alert, prepared to defend against the same invaders when they come to reclaim what you have taken.

One of the most powerful truths concerning spiritual warfare is the word that the Lord spoke to my heart many years ago. It took me a minute to get it due to stubbornness. To effectively advance and defend, you have to walk before the Lord in Spirit and in truth, with the truth being His Word. You should make every attempt to remove sin, which allows the enemy to gain a foot hold in the Lord's territory, which is in us. We must learn to submit, pray always, and seek the wisdom of God, but most importantly resist temptation. This is not an easy task, but it is not by your own might, but by the Strong Arm of the Lord that you will prevail. It is by the Blood of the Lamb and His Holy Spirit that you can resist, stand and overcome. If you happen to sin, then go and repent immediately. Go to the Lord for His grace and mercy and allow Him to minister unto you so that you can become stronger. This is a process that is repeated until you are strong in the areas where you were previously weak. The strong areas in our lives are then made stronger.

My heart yearned for more. My spirit was grieved and mourned constantly, because there was not enough of God on the inside. I was too afraid, and therefore unwillingly, to take the most important steps to receive my deliverance. I needed more. I needed the wisdom of the Lord. Finally, I decided that enough was enough. I could no longer continue to live nominally, still crawling around as a babe in Christ instead of walking with God. The Holy Spirit spoke and told me and said "it's because you have to give up everything to follow Christ. You must submit. Then and only then will you walk in the full power of the anointing and power that He gave to His disciples and followers after them. Only then, Anita, can you do the greater works that Jesus promised you will do. Is this what you want? You cannot serve the devil and God choose." I chose God, and this book is a result of my personal application and study. The Lord God has given this wisdom, understanding, and knowledge which I give to you so that we all may have victory and truly "stomp on the devil's head".

You must give up all earthly wisdom and knowledge born of men out of pride and sin and must forsake all the benefits of this world to walk with Christ in Spirit and in truth. The enemy cannot be conquered unless you conquer yourself first and take up that cross daily.

From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” (James 4:1-10)

Prophetic Word

Enter the Almighty One!

This is what the Spirit of the Living God, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Christ, who tries all reigns and searches the hearts of all men, says:

"My people are losing the battle against Satan in warfare strategies, because they have not won the war of sin and of flesh. They have not understood who their captain truly is or what He desires most from His people. Warfare, Anita, does not start with the sword against the enemy, but against oneself. You must die. You must be wholly committed to the Lord Jesus. You must first establish yourselves in covenant relationship with the Lord, and you must walk wholly in His ways to overcome your great adversary.

My people serve me with their lips only. They say ‘Lord, Lord’ and yet do not obey me. They have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof. Because of this, they are truly not my people. You must count the cost and give up everything in this war to come out with your souls. You cannot pretend, nor deceive yourselves into thinking that you serve Me because you go to a church, or go to meeting, or pass out clothes and shoes, yet do not spend time with Me, nor heed My commands, nor sanctify thy selves to be holy. There is no middle ground; you are either sold out for Christ or you are in the camp of Satan! There is no other way to win this great war. The time is coming near and all who do not take the narrow way, which is the straightway, will not overcome. If you believe that you can serve me and still hold on to the things of this world, then you are deceived to the bitter end. You cannot use my name against your own camp which is the camp of the evil one.

The first thing my people must do is make a firm and steadfast commitment to do all that I command and to remain therein. Do not leave your post for a moment of pleasure. If you are to be a part of My Kingdom that is, was and is yet to come, you must know Me. In Me there is shelter, there is strength, there is victory and where I Am no man, nor rebel angel may dwell; there are no other gods besides Me. You must be born again and renewed in your mind, in your spirit, and purpose yourselves to live holy and righteous without compromise, even though it will cost you your lives. Warfare starts with me, The One True Living God, the Lord of Hosts and the Redeemer! There is no victory without a true and abiding relationship with Me.

I desire you, to present you to my Son and myself spotless and blameless, without shame. I shall have my Church and all my plans will be accomplished. No man may thwart it, nor any angels hinder it. The war was won from the beginning, but will you reap the reward and the prize that comes with victory?"

Chapter 1

The Gospel

You are not your own anymore, so get that through your head. Let it soak into your heart, and let it become the foundation of your soul. You have received Christ, the seed was planted, and you believed, but what has that seed yielded? What type of soil has it fallen on? Are you really converted, or have you allowed Satan to steal the Word from you, or have you allowed the cares of this world, choke the young plant from springing up, maturing and bearing fruit? The Gospel of Jesus Christ, that was preached to us in the beginning, led us unto salvation is the foundation in which the Lord redeems us, and we are reborn anew (John 3:1-8). It is not from flesh but from the Spirit of The Living God; who then transforms you to a living stone of His Church, with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. The Gospel of Jesus has always been, always will be. It was preached by John the Baptist saying "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand" (Matthew 3:12) and in John 1:1-34 saying "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." Jesus, with the testimony from the father spoke in John 3:16-20 saying "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him shall have eternal life." This is the core of the Gospel message. Repent, believe on the Lamb, and receive eternal life of God to live with God in His Kingdom. In Mark 4, the Lord Jesus described the different grounds in which the seed of the Word of God (the heart of man) is sown:

"The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred." (Mark 4:14-20)

At this point, the Holy Spirit is trying the reigns of your heart. Even as you read this He is saying "Are you truly the follower of Christ, or are you deceiving yourself with false piety and religious fervor?” When you receive Christ as Lord, you leave from death unto life, from darkness to light, from an enemy of God to a friend of God. The first battle in the spirit is the redemption of your soul and spirit from the powers of darkness and sin, where you were enslaved and worthy of the death judgment which the Almighty God pronounces over the wicked. This is where spiritual warfare begins, but this is also where your authority begins. When you come to Christ and receive His mercy and the cleansing of your sins, then you are a new person. Your slate is clean; therefore, the enemy has no right to you. At that moment, for the first time in your life, you can declare to Satan that his power has ended.

As you begin to walk with the Lord, the next step is to be baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost, so the Lord can take up dominion in you to challenge our old habits, deeds, and thoughts of your heart. He begins this by the Power of His Holy Spirit when we humble ourselves before Him by imparting wisdom and conviction which begins to release us from the bondage and brings us to walk in His will. Most of us find this difficult. When you see that you cannot do the things you used to do, the voice of the Lord seems harsh to you, and his commands become a burden. We begin to realize that this walk is not as easy as some portray it to be. To give up that old man or woman is to give up drugs, partying, unholy alliances, skimpy clothes, gangs, and the tempting lifestyle that only money can bring. It's all too much! You begin to "ride the fence" as some say, between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. At one moment you are confessing Christ but in the next Satan seems to reign. Since you go to church, you are all good, in your own thinking. Whether you go every Sunday or only on the "C-M-E" days (Christmas, Mother's Day and Easter), the thought is that God knows your heart and that you’re a good person, so you will go to heaven because you tithe, or volunteer. Remember the scripture that people like to quote, though only in part. It is found in Isaiah 55: 8-9:

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:6-9)

What about the “God knows my heart” saying? Here is what the Lord has to say about that:

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Jeremiah 17:9-10)

"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man." (Mark 7:21-23)

You’re probably thinking “what does this have to do with spiritual warfare?” I bought this book on spiritual warfare strategies to learn how to defeat the powers of Hell. Yes, this spiritual warfare book is the beginning of your spiritual warfare journey. If you want to truly defeat Satan and advance the Kingdom of God by saving the lost souls, it has to start with you. Spiritual warfare begins at the cross, takes us through sanctification, making you holy and set apart for the Lord. His desire is for you to be fit vessels to be used by the Holy Spirit. This does not end until the Lord Jesus comes back to rule this earth after defeating and destroying all the powers of Hell. The Gospel of Christ is the covenant contract which enlists you as a resident in the Kingdom of Heaven. The Lord has plans for each of you; however, one person who refuses to give up their sins, or seeks to modify the Word will not stop the plans He laid before the foundation of the world.

When I signed up to be in the United States Navy at 18 years old, the recruiter came to me touting the personal and national benefits of serving this country. The pay, the travel, the new life as a service member, and the benefits after my four years of service was completed all seemed good. The advancement, being part of an elite group of strong and mighty people, sounded great! I didn’t fully count the cost of actually being a part of this elite group of people. I knew it meant that I would be away from my father who was 82 years old at the time, but in excellent mental and physical health. My father was proud that I was making that step and encouraged me to move forward. The recruiter assured me that if my father became needy, I could go to him, so my fears were abated. I thought about being killed in combat if I were assigned to a troop that had to fight in enemy territory, but I knew that was reasonable considering this is the military. When I showed up at 4 am to the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) office, various tests and preparation activities were given to me along with the other recruits. As new recruits, those in charge began to usher us into a different room for further instructions. The officer in charge of the briefing saw that the recruits were either still asleep or about to fall asleep. In stereotypical fashion, she began to yell at the top of her lungs, which was annoying and unnecessary. It wasn’t until she said, "you have enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. From this point on you belong to the United States government!" I was like "Ohhhh, hell naw! The government don’t own me!” (Please forgive the language, but that was my exact wording.) If you are honest with yourself, many of you, even though you have come to Christ, have come to the "Oh, heck naw" moment and you haven't even started boot camp.

You were no longer your own master. Your desires and hopes, are now in the hands of a greater master so you must put all aside to serve Him. If you are reading this and you have or are currently serving in the military, you know this to be true. When I heard that, I woke up immediately. I did not know I would no longer belong to myself, or even my parents, but to a government I didn’t believe I could trust with my life. All praise be to the Most High God that I could not for the life of me lose the eight tiny pounds required for the weight requirement in order to join the Navy.

That was the end of my military career. I am fortunate because the Lord had a different plan for me. I still believe that the discipline would have been great for me, but the cost was too high. I could not give up my life to be owned by a government, even though I had already accepted that I may die in service to my country. I did not realize that they would own me until I died or was discharged. So it is with the kingdom of God. The order is first natural, then the spiritual. When you come to Christ, He has bought and paid for you with His life. You belong wholly and unequivocally to the Lamb whose precious holy blood bought you. There is no half step and no in between. If He sends you into the most hostile place to minister to terrorists, you must go or become absent without official leave (AWOL). He is the one who provides the gifts, discipline, training, and the assignment to His servants. Jesus has become your master. He has become your King. You are now a part of the Kingdom of God. You must obey in order to receive the reward when the Lord returns or be court marshalled and dishonorably discharged.

"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Chapter 2

The Cost of War

In the natural way of things, when a country prepares for war, it must consider many different factors. It must count the cost. No leader goes to battle without first reckoning up the price that must be paid, whether they receive the victory or if they become the conquered. First, the king, prince, or president must decide if it is feasible to go to war, and if the war is justifiable, as he will have to consider the lives that will be needed to fight. Then, he must calculate the cost of mobilizing his armed forces by land, sea, or air, how to move them, how to feed them, clothe them, where to station them, and how to arm them with the weapons necessary to fight. He must consider their health both on and off the battle field and their morale. He then must take thought to:

  • where and how the battle should be fought

  • what the outcome will be

  • if he would be killed and his family taken captive

  • if his country is invaded, despoiled and raped

  • if his people are taken into slavery or put to death

If the victory is won, he must consider how to hold onto the land that has been won. There are so many factors in just getting prepared for war that I could write a book on that alone!

This is the nature of war. There are always much causality in war, through deception, imprisonment, slavery or death. In every war there are smaller battles, and a country may lose many battles, but still win the war. They can even win many battles and still lose the war. It is the same in the spirit realm, but in this instance, you know who is strong and mighty. You know who the victor will be. You also know who the enemy is and what his outcome will be. As a follower of Christ, you must know why, what, and who you are fighting. You are fighting in the army of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to stop the advancement of the kingdom of Satan. This must be done to repel and resist his dark, evil deeds in order for the will of God to go forth into the earth realm. God desires for all to hear and have the choice to receive or reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ before his return, the Great Day of the Lord. The part you must decide as you fight in this spiritual war, is the cost of fighting on both sides. Even if you say, that you did not choose a side, you have already chosen your side. Jesus speaks in the book of Revelation to John, a message for the Laodicean church:

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.“ (Revelation 3:14-22)

Just by this passage alone, you can see that the Lord does not tolerate anyone who has not decided to follow him wholly. You cannot be in this war and remain doubleminded with the expectation that the Lord to still counts you as His. The Lord Almighty will not send you to fight on His behalf if you are not committed, so that leaves you to be fodder for the enemy; therefore, you have already incurred the wrath and judgment of God. The price of this war will cost you, yet, if you are fighting on the side of the Lord, you will not lose but gain in eternity. Whereas, if you fight for the enemy, you may gain on the earth but lose the entire war eternally. Fighting as a soldier of God may cost you family, friends, jobs, financial stability, homes, material things, your health and your very life. This is the cost the Lord Jesus spoke about in Luke:

"And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:25-33)

Many Christians fail to realize that once you engage the enemy on the battlefield, retaliation may come against you. Believers have not counted this in their "blessed and highly favored" minds, so they wonder why they are being attacked on all points and are helpless to stop it. They go to battle not understanding war, nor going forth fully armored or trained in the ways of God. If those who follow the Lord are ardently seeking His face and are obedient take hits just for being righteous, what do you think will happen to those who are walking in disobedience, and yet professing Lord's Holy name? In fact, the Lord will literally hold up the righteous man for inspection, to prove that He is a true and just God, as he did with Job. Job was a man who walked uprightly before the Lord and yet suffered greatly at the hands of the enemy.

Elijah the prophet, doing his work and standing for the Lord, was put on the assassination hit list by Jezebel. Did not David run for his very life from the face of Saul? Was John not beheaded for his righteous testimony? Noah, his sons, and their wives witnessed the annihilation of all the peoples of the earth when they endured the Great Flood yet, they were the only ones saved. Moses walked before the Lord, but people talked about him and complained. Most of all, Jesus was ridiculed, hated without reason, treated like a criminal, and put to death by his own people, yet He had no sin. Today all over the world, many of our brothers and sisters are being beheaded, like John the Baptist, for their testimony, or tortured, beaten, and jailed like the apostles because they profess Christ and will not deny him. Many have lost their families, friends, and homes, yet they persist in proclaiming the name of God. These are the upright before the Lord. May the Lord keep you that you might not be ashamed before your brethren in the day of Judgment.

"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to fight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect." (Hebrews 11:32-40)

The righteous and obedient are given the assurances and promises of God. In battle that will enable them to take a hit and keep it moving, to bounce back and become stronger than they were before. Those who are just coasting do not have these assurances of the covenant because they refuse or have not fully honored the covenant with their lives. When they are hit, they fall and tend to stay down for longer periods of time. By faith and the greater promise the people of God keep going, even though all seems dark and dreary in the earth.

Our brothers and sisters who have gone before us in the faith understood and were properly trained in the word of God. They were arrayed in the full armor of God; therefore, were in right position for the fight that they were to endure. Alone in the wilderness, forsaken by all, they still had joy and peace, having put away this earthly life to obtain a heavenly one. Thus, having denied themselves the moments of many carnal pleasures earned an eternity of absolute peace. They are awaiting what Jesus promised us in Revelation 21:

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:1-8)

"And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:1-5)
