Chapter One

WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?

Jesus said we can always get it, if we ask for it: “Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you:” {Matt. 7: 7}

He assured that whatever we ask the Father in His name, His Father would give to us: “Verily, verily I say unto you, whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name: He will give it to you”. {Jn. 16: 23}

He also told us of the power of faith and spoken words in Mark 11: 22 - 24: “...Have faith in God…Whoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart...shall have whatsoever he saith...”

I want you to read again the above paragraph. Take a closer look at each of the three quoted passages. Can you discover a basic secret to getting what you want in life? Here is it:

*Ask…

*Ask the father in the name of Jesus….

*Speak with faith without an iota of doubt...

Thus, when we offer our petition in the name of Jesus and speak word of authority to our situation with solid faith, we get what we desire.

You’ve got to Define It

This takes us back a little. What is it that we take to God in prayer? Knowing what we want is important to asking for and getting it. In a definite term, you should be able to tell exactly what you want.

If you can define your need, you can boldly table it before the throne of grace. If you can define it, you can straightway ask the Father for it, in the name of Jesus. And if you can rightly ask for it by faith that is not infested with doubt or fear, you will certainly get it. You’ve got to define it and go for it, if you must surely get it.

She Knew What She Wanted

Hannah was a woman of grief, who brightly defined what she wanted: “And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and … give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life …” Do you note how definite she spoke of her need before the Lord? She knew what she wanted and clearly defined it: ‘a male child’. Learn to be definite in stating your request when you pray.

The woman who was called ‘barren’ by people was driven to God by her grief. All through the years, she had wanted a child, and grief of barrenness had been telling on her health. Yeah, Hannah’s mind, cheeks, and health constantly proclaimed her grief to the watching eyes of world.

Hannah wanted a male child, and for that her adversary constantly mocked and made jest of her. Peninnah’s provocation was a scorching sun on Hannah’s broken heart. The adversary’s provocation terribly triggered her sorrows. Her pains were triggered as her “ rival provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb”.

But Peninnah’s provocation couldn’t burn out Hannah’s memory of what she wanted from the Lord - “a man child”. Yet in it all, Hannah’s definition of what she wanted from God remained un-faded.

Two Types of Grief

There are two types of grief: the mobile, and the immobile. While mobile grief go and come, the immobile stay with you all times. Immobile grief is an unwanted intimate companion of its victim. Such was Hannah's and Jabez grief until they got freedom from its jaws. And you'll surely be free from it.
