God’s Word for an Insane World

Den Warren

Each of us is different so ideas and experiences affect us in different ways. I am not a Bible scholar, but I have read the entire Bible and studied much of it in-depth. So many scriptures impacted me. I would like to present a half-dozen scriptures that have meant a lot to me and why they were so important. My hope is that you will appreciate them as well. I used the King James Version because I like it the best. If you read these you will see a general underlying theme that God will straighten today’s ridiculous man-made mess out in the end.

Romans 14:11-12

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

I included verse 12 with this one because the context is important. Jesus said, EVERY knee shall bow. He doesn’t mean whoever he is talking to at the time, He is talking about everyone who ever lived. Everyone, including the most obstinate rebellious person will bow to Jesus Christ. It is sad to think that so many who mistreat Christians are really rejecting Christ. But they will bow before Him before they are judged. This is a real event that will happen, that is perhaps more real than our present lives on earth. There will be no excuses, or trying to talk out of the final judgment. No one there lived a perfect life, but did they receive Christ to pay for their sins or not? God does not decide if we were more good than bad, because any bad must be paid for. Only Jesus can pay it. At that point the chaos that we experience now in this world will be put into order. Then peace can begin.

1 Chronicles 4:10

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

This is an amazing scripture that must be read in context to understand its full importance. Look this one up in context and you will see that it is right in the middle of a long genealogy list of names and nothing else about them. The names listed seem to say that people come and go, but this one guy Jabez came along and had enough faith in God to ask for His blessing and got it. The message is saying that you can ask for something big in your life and God may bless you as well. God sees the beginning from the end. Jabez stuck out among the many generations. Something to really think about.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Those of us who write Christian apologetics for very long have had numerous attacks, (including hateful reviews) from people who hate that we are trying to get them to consider what Jesus has done for them. In this day and age everything is absolutely turned upside down. Evil is protected by “political correctness”, while godliness is called out as “hate speech”. Please leave Christian writers a note of encouragement and a respectable star rating.

Luke 6:28

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

There are a lot of verses with this theme in the Bible. God knows what we are going through with people. He came to earth to save Man, and they put Him up on the Cross. There is a lot of people despitefully using those who stand for Biblical values. But our suffering is only short-lived, and we might win them over by praying for them and forgiving them. It is very hard to do. It is a lot easier to fight for our rights. Maybe we should not be a cave-in, but not escalate the confrontation either. Something to think about.

2 Timothy 4:3

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Look at how many people today are promoting something evil. Their ideas may sound nice, but are they good? They say they are for the downtrodden, or the children, but are they really? Again, they like to claim those who promote the Bible are the evil ones, yet it is unlikely they have even read the Bible.

People will entertain themselves with about anything rather than read the Bible. I know I am guilty of this. If we stay in the Bible, its wisdom will rub off on us, and we will consistently make better choices in our lives. We have all kinds of remedies for a messed up life, but the truth of the Bible would help us from messing them up to begin with. Almost any wrong decision has a Bible verse we could have heeded before we chose that wrong thing.

Titus 1:2

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

This is the last verse I heard from a person before I became a Christian. Think about it; God has no reason to embellish the truth, because He is God. Many say God is not real because He does not reveal Himself. (Even though He sent Jesus, Who they killed.) God is a spiritual being and does not have to do anything any man demands. He is God. It is against His nature to lie, because who would He want to impress or fool?

Also if you read the verse, “He promised before the world began.” He knows the beginning from the end. He is not surprised by anything.

I hope you were blessed by this short Bible study. - Den
