My Mission Field Is My Mind

I live in the “free world” and for that I’m thankful but it has its very serious drawbacks for those who “only” want to sincerely love and follow Jesus. There is a remnant of people, of whom I am a member, who are finding it more and more difficult, trying to live out a “reality” based gospel, while immersed in “fantasy” based teaching. A teaching that has flipped the script. A script that was authored by Jesus himself, is no longer in play for many, and nor is He for that matter.

What we have we deserve. We asked for it. Easier with more treats please was our request. We have had our ears tickled sufficiently. We have built our “golden idol” and are now thrilled with our “new” creation to pay homage to! And what might this new creation be? Us, and those who tell us, it’s all about us! It’s quite the attractive package we’ve come up with.

We are no longer “deniers of self” but rather “indulgers of self” and are boastfully proud of it! Like our book cover states: It’s obvious. No one is hiding it. It’s out there for all to see and no one is even remotely concerned about it. When I say “no one” I mean those involved.

Interestingly and revealingly, our “new way” only applies to the “free world” as if “tailor made” to suit geographical positioning. I wonder at times what our brethren in the middle east, while watching their families being executed for their faith, think of us and our faith. “Prospering” for them is getting to live another day! I guess it’s all relative: He said sarcastically!

We who care are very saddened by the maze and mess we see and hear as being promoted on a regular basis by our celebrated speakers. Not all speakers but no one is oblivious to those who would be included in the maze. We read in the bible about the early sacrificial, selfless, amazing church and wonder what happened. Well, maybe the “free world” happened with its version of the gospel! One that does its very best to side-step “the picking up of our cross”, as relevant!

I’m aware this book is being written for the earlier spoken of “remnant” not the majority. They don’t really have a voice. They’re seen as the “wet blanket” at the party. Remember how Aaron was treated as he tried to stop those who were worshipping the golden idol in Moses’ absence .

It can be somewhat like that. If they should dare to question anything coming from the mouths of the talking heads, they are summarily dismissed as not being enlightened enough to “get it”.

Well, Jesus said to deny myself and made it a precursor to following Him with the caveat that if I don’t I’m not worthy of Him. The “whoever’s” are telling me that things have changed and I’m now to indulge myself. How enlightened does one have to be to “get that”?

The word “deceived” is often front and center in these type of discussions, which are distasteful at the best of times. Personally I would much rather stick a fork in my eye than write this book! Keeping in mind it’s not written for the “whoever’s or their devotees”, but rather the “Aaron’s” of this world.

I don’t believe for a second that anyone’s deceived. I think we all “get it”. It’s that obvious! Just like the children of Israel worshipping the golden calf: They didn’t say: “Oh is that wrong”. They knew it was wrong, told Aaron to basically mind his own business, and did what they wanted to do. Believe me if Moses doesn’t come down from that mountain, they are still worshipping the golden calf!

Today it’s no different. Nothing is new. The “same old” is simply being reproduced in a different package. We shouldn’t be shocked. The bible foretold us this would happen. Our new updated golden calf of choice is the “whoever” holding the microphone! That which proceeds from their mouths is automatically deemed: THE GOSPEL without challenge, by those who ingest it. Aren’t the ingesters somewhat concerned that they are giving free reign of their spiritual well-being to a person. No. Why? They’re hearing what they “want to” hear and what they’re hearing is shiny and they like shiny things! Golden calves are shiny folks! The ingesters don’t care if it’s true, it’s shiny! There’s such a thing as “amazing” lies! There’s also such a thing as “amazing” liars!

Before embarking on this book I perused a letter from an Aaron that revealed clearly the error of a certain person who I don’t want to advertise by mentioning the name. The error the letter mentioned was no small thing. It was huge and basically denied the all-sufficient work of Jesus on the cross. Big enough? The person teaching it was as hugely popular as the size of the error.

The lady who wrote the “caution” was ripped to shreds by 95% of the many pages of those who responded, mostly faithful followers of the one responsible for the error in the first place.

Everything in the letter was backed up as scripturally factual. It wasn’t denominationally slanted nor personally biased. It was no more or less than scripture speaking for itself! So one wonders, why so protective of obvious and proven error? Why was she so viciously attacked for trying to warn people to verify what they hear with scripture? Why would that be such a distasteful idea for the adherent to pursue? Would that be considered treasonous type doubting of the Golden Calf perhaps?

I think not. That’s why I don’t believe anyone is deceived. You see deceived suggests you don’t know what you’re doing. I see this scenario as more like: Blind by choice!

This I do believe: Scripture and in fact Jesus, is by-passed because the adherent already knows they can’t find verification or confirmation for what they’re hearing. The big problem? They like what they’re hearing! Who wouldn’t want to hear how being a disciple of Jesus is a trouble free walk in the park with so much money you won’t know what to do with it all, existence. Come on you have to admit, that’s seriously shiny!

On top of that, they’ve probably told friends and family all about their golden calf! Maybe those friends and family have actually bought into it? Each and every step of the way thoughts of an exit become more and more complicated so they don’t exit, but rather defend the indefensible! It’s how cult thinking works. Make leaving an eating crow experience and they won’t leave! No one likes eating crow. No one likes to have to face this scenario: I knew it was wrong and did it anyway. I was warned and ignored the warning! This is on ME! That takes a huge person to do that and the fact is not many of us are that huge. Let’s face it: If we were drawn into an “easy” gospel, how would we then take on something that hard?

Apologies To My Non-Free World Brethren

You must look at us and shake you heads because I look at you and shake mine. We have two different gospels and because of the “obvious” chasm between both they both can’t be right. Either you folks missed the boat or we lost the plot. I strongly suggest the latter is true, unless of course God doesn’t love you as much as He loves us: He said sarcastically!

I pray that our disgraceful behavior doesn’t discourage you in your journey with Jesus. It must be very difficult to know that we pray for more of everything while having more than we need, as you pray for one more day and greet it with thanksgiving if given. I hope it does you hearts good to know that you know Jesus in a way we never will. The bible calls that “prosperous”. As you know we have a different meaning to the “word”. Just another difference I suppose. It’s a “free world” thing and not be envied! You have pure gold! We have golden calves.

And Finally To My Fellow Aarons

Don’t lose heart and try not to be distracted by the “whoever’s”. God has never had a majority in His corner. He’s never needed one! A remnant will do Him fine. Stay true to the One with the nail scars in His hands. The One who didn’t have a pillow to lay His head the final three years of His life. The One who said: Those who save their lives will lose them, but those who lose their lives for My sake will save them. We signed up with Jesus for the real deal, not foolishness nor silly sugary treats. They really don’t accommodate our spiritual palates very well.

Like our brothers and sisters in the non-free world, the reality of the presence of Jesus is our all-sufficient reward. Paul called it “surpassing worth” and considered all he had lost as “nothing”, in comparison to the “gain” in knowing Jesus. I call that the true prosperity Gospel! “I’d rather have Jesus than anything”, can be our song of defiance as we remove ourselves from the maze!

This will be my last book and comment on the subject. To invest any more time would have to be considered a waste but I’m glad I wrote it. As mentioned earlier, it’s really not for those who are involved either in pulpits or pews but rather the ones who are finding it more lonely by the minute as people who simply want to be faithful to a beautiful gospel that was purchased on a cross by Jesus over two thousand years ago.

For those folks may I encourage you with this: Jesus said the road would be less travelled and narrow. If that’s what your path feels like rejoice! I pray that God’s Spirit will strengthen you in your inner-man and that your resolve would be more radical than ever as you go forward with the Lord! Amen!

When the obvious is ignored there’s not much you nor I can do for those involved. This is true and something I’ve had to learn from experience. I still hold out prayerful hope and confidence that God can and will intervene in the lives of His “sheep”, so it ain’t over till God says so! That too I’ve learned from personal experience! If it weren’t so, I wouldn’t be writing books for and to his Glory! He’s much more than enough for me. Apart from Him, I truly need nothing else. I guess I don’t understand those who do, thus my desire to write this book. Hopefully a blessing!

My Ministry Into Our Ministry

Mark 6 - 38 & 41: “How many loaves do you have He asked?” “Go and see”. When they found out they said, “Five and two fish”. Taking the five loaves and two fish and looking up to heaven He gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to His disciples to DISTRIBUTE to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all”. ( Five thousand plus, were fed that day! )

In the biblical story of the “fishes and loaves”, I so clearly see three dynamics in play to achieve the desired completion of the heavenly orchestrated equation. The young boy GAVE what little he had, our Lord then MULTIPLIED it, and the disciples then DISTRIBUTED it.

It’s interesting to note that Jesus, after the multiplying didn’t say, “Come and get it”. What He did say was, “Everyone find a place to sit on the grass and I’ll bring it to you, through my own”. Folks, He loves to involve us. He loves to make us matter! We are blessed beyond measure to be written into, His stories! Just imagine: Invited by Him to participate in His plans for others!

From the inception of the idea of writing books to be made available to “all freely”, there has never been a moment when I haven’t been aware of its ministry context. I could easily be seen as the “young boy” in the story. Jesus has most certainly multiplied my meager offering to Him.

So may I invite and encourage you to be a distributor of that which He has multiplied, thereby elevating “My Ministry” into “Our Ministry”, thus completing “His Ministry”. There’s something about that idea that sounds “perfect” to my heart!

We all have friends, family, work mates, school mates, etc. I’ve included a simple directional on “how to find” the “fishes and loaves”. Please feel free to share “what you eat” with others. You have no idea where it could lead to! That young boy’s mother could never have dreamed, what that little lunch she had prepared for her son on that fateful morning, would produce!
