Be strong and brave, for you will be a successful leader of my people; and they shall conquer all the land I promised to their ancestors. You need only to be strong and courageous and to be obey to the letter every law Moses gave you, for if you are careful to obey every one of them, you will be successful in everything you do. Constantly remind the people about these laws, and you yourself must think about them everyday and every night so that you will be sure to obey all of them. For only then will you succeed. Joshua Chapter 1 verses 6 to 8 Family Devotions Bible

Then he said, “This is God’s message to Zerubbabel; ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty- you will succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak’. Zechariah Chapter 4 verse 6. Family Devotions Bible

Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 verse 10

I Hear the Sound of the Abundance of Rain 1st Kings Chapter 18 verse 41

According to the OXFORD Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of English, to dare is to be brave enough to do something. To succeed is to achieve something that you have been trying to do or get; to have the result or effect that was intended.

Success is a habit; a culmination of daily mental processes as well as actions that feed into a desired dream or vision geared to propel a person to the top.

A person’s perception of who s/he is often determines the energy, enthusiasm and drive that the person ploughs into divine processes and relationships designed to propel the person into divine destiny. The Biblical Joseph for instance saw himself as a global leader and behaved like one in his demeanor, relationship with other people as well as in the management of resources. Daniel saw himself as specially created by God for special divine purposes and behaved accordingly. Gideon saw himself as a nobody; therefore acted as one until God took him out of that wrong perception of himself into the true perception of which God created him to be and for what purpose God created him. Please see Judges Chapter 6. Gideon was playing safe but when he confronted his fears, he became a national hero. When you choose to play safe like the man with one talent, you may lose everything like the man. There are things gravitating to you but you are playing safe. In playing safe, you can never win. But when you take risks for God based on your perception of the real you in the Word of God; designed for success; then you will focus on your potentials rather than the challenges. You will also stop playing safe. Going forward, do not allow any intimidation and oppositions to shake you. Stand your ground. Quitters do not win. Therefore, do not quit the stage in the face of challenges. Rather, hold it and stand your ground. Please see Hebrews Chapter 10 verse 23.

When Joseph got to Potiphar’s house, he comported himself as a king. He did not behave like a slave because he had a leader’s mentality. You are designed by God for success. Act the part of the global leader God created you to be. Refuse to conform to the limitations of whatever environment you are presently in. God says that You are greatly blessed, you are highly favored, and you are deeply loved by God; and He has fast forwarded time for you. This is your time of total restoration of all that God planned for your life. The devil and his cohorts have no choice but to restore all that they stole from you. Therefore, get rid of every doubt, deception, confusion and manipulation. God’s desire is for you to harvest your crops now.

Grace positioned Joseph for exploits. It is time to move on. You cannot maximize your maximum potential in life without GRACE – 2ND Corinthians Chapter 12 verses 8 to 10. To succeed in life, you have to always give God prime attention. Otherwise you might be swayed, distracted, confused, intimidated, immobilized, misled, become discouraged, led into sin by the strife of tongues, a weapon the devil always deploys effectively through the Goliaths, the Jezebels, the strange women, the Delilahs, the Sanballats, Tobiahs and Gesehms, the Shimeis, the Ahitophels, the Jonadabs, and the Potiphar’s wives of this world. If you always give God prime attention, you will never be derailed from purpose. Ask Jesus Christ, Nehemiah, Joseph, the Apostle Paul and many others who served the plans and purposes of God for their lives. There are empty vessels waiting for you to fill them after which your own challenges will be taken care of. The very thing you are ignoring is your opportunity. So give it PRIME ATTENTION. Your harvest is hanging because you have not positioned yourself. God demands profit out of His rich deposit in you. God has endowed you with a new tongue, the tongue of the learned to bless, and to war, to uproot and to destroy whatever He did not plant, and to plant and nurture His plans and purposes for your life to fruition in Jesus mighty name.

The book Dare to Succeed is specifically written to make you decide to dare and determine to succeed. God created you to succeed and has all it takes for you to succeed. However, the blueprint you need from God to succeed is in His Word. The word of God is the power of God and the word has the capability to heal, save and deliver. The Word of God gives mobility and mobility gives speed and speed brings about success. Please see Ezekiel Chapter 37, John Chapter 5 verses 1 to 14. That explains the first command in Isaiah Chapter 60 verse 1a (ARISE). To arise you have to MOVE – arise speaks of movement, mobility. The Word of God is Energy – releases spiritual, physical, material, intellectual energy that energizes you to move from point A to B in the plans and purposes of God for your life. Arise; shine for your light has come (Isaiah Chapter 60 verse 1a). Everything you need to shine has been given to you by God in His Word which significantly is the light that has come. It is therefore your responsibility to search out the truths in the Word of God that you need to shine for it is the truth of the Word of God that you know and apply to every area of your life that will help you and make you shine.

Your responsibility to the word of God determines your accessibility to the power of God. The word of God is the light of God and is God. Please see Psalm 107 verse 7, Ecclesiastes Chapter 8 verse 4. You can access the word of God by hearing the word of God as stated in Romans Chapter 5 verse 17, reading the word of God as stated in Revelation Chapter 1 verse 3, 1st Timothy Chapter 4 verse 13, studying the word as stated in 2nd Timothy Chapter 2 verse 15, memorizing the word as stated in Psalm 119 verse 11, meditating on God’s word as stated in Joshua Chapter 1 verse 8.

The Word of God brings prosperity. You may ask how? The tree planted by the rivers of water does not wither on account of heat or whatever because its roots are abundantly supplied with water. Please see Jeremiah Chapter 17 verse 8, Ezekiel Chapters 17 verses 1 to 8; 19 verses 10 to 11; and 30 verses 3 to 10. In like manner, your life will be and can be enriched in any area (Deuteronomy Chapter 28 verses 1 to 13) if you fully saturate yourself (body, soul and spirit) with the word of God. This is because the manifest presence of God is in the word of God and when you carry the manifest presence of God at all times, you have everything. Please see Joshua Chapter 1 verse 8, Psalm 1 verses 1 to 3 and Jeremiah Chapter 17 verses 5 to 8. Just as the water nourishes the earth, and what is planted on the earth as well as other living things on the earth, animals, fishes, birds, etc so does the word of God nourish your spirit, soul and body which explains why the Bible instructs believers that man does not live by bread alone (Deuteronomy Chapter 8 verse 3, Matthew Chapter 4 verse 4, Luke Chapter 4 verse 4) but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. The word of God is the water that comes from the rain of God’s word in your life (1st Kings Chapter 18 verse 41, 1st John Chapter 5 verses 6 to 8. The Word of God will make you fruitful; move you from point A to B, and B to C, etc. Therefore, you must fully consecrate yourself to the LORD; that is your heart must be prepared to receive the Word of God with thanksgiving. Please see Isaiah Chapter 12 verse 3.

What a person hears and believes is very important as words always have the capacity to impact people and their lives either positively or negatively. That is why you should cross check the source of the words you hear, internalize and believe. Words that originate from God always have the capacity to enrich and enlarge you and make you a better person. These words are like the rain that comes in due season; that is at the right time to bless the earth. But words that originate from the kingdom of darkness are like the polluted waters of Jericho that was causing barrenness and death in the land. Please see 2nd Kings Chapter 2 verses 18 to 22, Exodus Chapter 15 verses 22 to 26. That is why Elisha went to the source of the water where the water was polluted to bring about healing of the water, in essence decontamination from the source to bring about healing in the land.

Rain is not necessarily physical – it could be spiritual, physical, mental, intellectual, financial, material, etc. Rain can also refer to the many wonderful blessings of God which everyone needs depending on what a person’s needs are. Elijah for instance first sought the kingdom of God after which he heard the sound of the abundance of rain which God promised when He asked Elijah to go present himself to Ahab in the third year of the drought. Please see 1st Kings Chapter 18 verse 1. After presenting himself to Ahab, Elijah repaired the altar of the LORD GOD of Israel and the prophets of Baal were killed. Immediately after, Elijah said to Ahab, ‘celebrate for rain is here. In essence, the long standing drought and famine is over. Rain, lush greenness, harvests and abundance is here’. Ahab commenced celebrations immediately but the prophet who was given the promise of rain and heard the sound of the abundance of rain (blessings) prayed down the manifestation of the rain and as soon as there was a cloud, irrespective of how small it was; Elijah sent another message to Ahab, ‘Go home before the rain stops you’. Please see 1st Kings Chapter 18 verse 44. All through the progression of events from the prophecy in verse 1 to the downpour in verse 45, Elijah exercised faith in God that God would do what He promised.

The Significance of Rain

Rain brings water which the earth drinks in to nourish the earth and whatever is planted on the earth. Please see Isaiah Chapters 55 verses 10 to 13; 30 verse 23, Psalms 65 verses 9 to 13; 72 verse 6, Joel Chapter 2 verse 23, Zechariah Chapter 10 verse 1, Ezekiel Chapter 34 verses 26 to 27, Deuteronomy Chapters 8 verse 7; 11 verses 10 to 15 and 28 verse 12. However, rain at the wrong season can be devastating; rain in the wrong quantity at the right season can also be devastating. But good water in the right quantity brings about fruitfulness and fruitfulness brings about increase, prosperity, healing of the nations as believers bear fruit that abide. The right amount of rain at the right season in Jesus mighty name is what brings increase and prosperity through abundant harvests. That is what the Bible refers to as showers of blessings. Please see Isaiah Chapter 30 verses 23 to 25, Acts Chapter 14 verse 17, Isaiah Chapter 55 verses 10 to 13 and 1st Samuel Chapter 3 verse1. In like manner, the rain of the word of God brings about healing in that translates into fruitfulness in evangelism, intercession and as souls are harvested through fervent intercession for people and the land, God blesses His people with forgiveness, healing and restoration. The people of God also become God’s healing streams, channels of His forgiveness and healing in the land according to Ezekiel Chapter 47 verses 1 to 12, Revelation Chapter 22 verses 1 to 2. Significantly, the people of God bear abiding fruit on monthly basis in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Saul encountered the Word and was transformed to Paul. Please see Acts Chapter 9 verses 1 to 6. God has promised to bless you. It is your responsibility to pray the blessings through. Do not despise or hate the rain of God’s Word. The consequences of despising the Word of God are clearly spelt out in the following Scriptures; Psalm 107 verses 10 to 13, Numbers Chapter 15 verse 31. Do not trivialize the rain of God’s Word either. Any of these actions will leave you frustrated, barren and unfulfilled. Therefore, love the rain of the Word of God and appreciate God for blessing You with the rain of His Word that will propel you into uncommon success in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Chapter 1

Discover You

The Maze

Father, I lift my voice to you

To seek direction

True direction and guidance

Order my steps in Your word

Order my speech in Your Word

And give me relationships that glorify Your name

And enhance Your plans and purposes for my life

So that I will prosper in your ways.

Where do I turn from here?

Left, right, backwards, forwards?

So many voices beckoning, yet none certain

I reflect on experiences, expertise, intelligence, lessons learnt

Yet none appears certain

Then I prayed

And He answered

My word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.

Order my steps in your word

Order my mental processes in your Word

Order my desires in your Word

Teach me to walk in your word

Teach me to speak in and by your word

Establish me in your word

For your word is light and life.

Lifted and established

By His wonderful guidance

Gleaned from His Word

Interpreted by His Holy Spirit

I stand firm and rooted

Unshakeable and unafraid

Because He is my Guide

Unmask You

To succeed, the real you has to come to the fore. The real you is God’s original design of you created to fulfill His divine plans and purposes for your life. The following questions may guide you into identifying that you if answered truthfully.

Whose dreams and visions are you interpreting and for what purpose?

Whose ideas are you implementing and for what purpose?

What drives you – your dreams and visions coupled with a desire to excel; or the desire to please and impress other people by deploying your energy and resources to service their dreams and visions while yours are left fallow?

Do you desire greatness or servitude? The choice is actually yours.

Who is God to you?

Have you identified your purpose in life or you are hoping it will fall on you like a bag of cherries?

Do you have a trajectory for your life?

What do you hope to be remembered for in the next ten years?

What does the gift of time mean to you?

Do you love God and honor Him?

Is the quest for knowledge exciting or burdensome?

Do you shirk responsibilities?

Are you easily distracted?

Do you have staying power?

Do you celebrate other people – their talents, skills, expertise, successes and achievements?

Do you act promptly or procrastinate?

Is gossip a waste of time to you or trifles you enjoy?

Do you use people?

Do you tell lies?

Are you always truthful?

Celebrate You

You are fearfully and wonderfully made – Psalm 137 verses 14 to 18. This speaks of gratitude to God for who you are, how He created you and why He created you. David understood this and that explains he was unusually confident, celebrated himself and excelled, and prospered wherever he went. I pray that God will help you to see who you are so that you can place the right value on you and celebrate you accordingly in Jesus mighty name.

God loves you and gave up his only begotten son so that you can be reconciled to Him. Please see John Chapters 3 verse 16; 4 verses 9 to 11, 16, 19 and Jeremiah Chapter 31 verse 3.

You are special to God. Please see Deuteronomy Chapter 7 verses 6 to 8.

God is mindful of you and takes care of you. Please see Hebrews Chapter 2 verses 6 to 8, Psalm 8 verses 1 to 9.

God crowned you with gory and honor. Please see Psalm 8 verse 5.

God visits you to expand and increase you, restore life to you. Please see Psalm 8 verse 4, Genesis Chapter 21 verse 1, Ruth Chapter 1 verse 6; Luke Chapters 1 verses 68, 78; 7 verse 16, 1st Samuel Chapter 2 verse 21.

God gave you dominion over the works of His hands. Please see Genesis Chapter 1 verses 26 to 28, Psalm 8 verses 6 to 9.

God inscribed you on the palms of His hands and your walls are continually before Him which explains why He cannot forget you. Please see Isaiah Chapters 49 verses 13 to 16, 44 verse 21 and 1st Samuel Chapter 1 verses 19 to 20.

You carry God in you, the awesome, sanctifying, protecting, healing presence of God through the Holy Spirit.

God is your Shepherd. He provides all you need, guides you to profit, protects you, saves you, enriches and enlarges you. Please see Psalm 23, Isaiah Chapters 58 verse 11; 48 verse 17.

Finally, appreciate who you are, how you were created, where God planted you geographically in terms of race, color, country, region, the family He planted you into, the environment in which you were raised, the circumstances of your birth, your challenges, weaknesses, strengths, skills, talents, expertise, the gifts of God in you, etc. These are designed to make YOU, DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE from other people. Your divinely endowed distinctive and unique natural abilities and capabilities coupled with your natural talents and gifts set you apart from other people for the purpose of achieving God’s plans in your life. Therefore, sing your own song. If you do not sing your own song, no one will sing it for you.

A Child of Love

You are a child of love to God, a child of inestimable value to Him. That is why He gave Jesus Christ, His only son for your salvation and redemption. Please see John Chapter 3 verse 16. That is why He cannot and will not forget you no matter the circumstances that assail you. Please see Isaiah Chapter 49 verses 14 to 16 - "You are inscribed on the palms of His hand and your walls are always before Him". Beloved, God's love to you cannot be quantified. In the book of Jeremiah Chapter 31 verse 3, He says He has loved you with an everlasting love. That is why He gives men for you, and people for your life because you are precious in His sight. Please see Isaiah Chapter 43 verse 4.
